Pathways 2 Sustainability Red Deer (2011)
Food, Fuel, & Finance
Following the success of Pathways 2009, the Pathways 2011 conference was held in partnership with the City of Red Deer, local sustainability champions (Re-think Red Deer) and our host sponsor; Red Deer College in their new LEED Silver Technology and Innovation Center.
P2S 2011 was defined and staged by the host community steering committee and the decided focus became community resilience with subtopics of food security, alternative energy solutions, and community finance models. Red Deer College and the City of Red Deer had an opportunity to open their doors, showcase their successes, and play host to over 200 community leaders, innovative industries, and institutional champions. The content, the setting, and the masterfully conducted facilitated workshops inspired and engaged local community leaders in defining the future of sustainability for Red Deer and region whilst enjoying locally sourced foods, wines and mead's that have become a staple in defining the ambiance of Alberta’s sustainability community conference.
Attendance & Content: This conference was attended by over 200 delegates and included over 25 showcases presentations from supporting institutions, industries, municipalities and organizations from across Alberta who applied to present their initiatives. These showcases were uploaded to the Pathways conference site and voted on by registrants and Pathways Network members as part of the selection process.
