Sustainability Resources is guided by an esteemed Board of Directors who bring their professional expertise to guide the corporate direction of Sustainability Resources. They have been recruited to the Board for their demonstrated leadership and experience in nonprofit management, politics, education, marketing, and communications.
As a registered non-profit company under the Companies Act of Alberta, we are required to have two Directors.
Joey Stewart, Chair of the Board
Joey Stewart is a retired industrial executive, having worked with Imperial Oil during her 30 year career in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment. She was educated in Calgary Canada, the United States and London, England. Joey has Chaired several organizations, including the Calgary Board of Health, the Calgary Learning Centre and the Pathways 2 Sustainability Calgary Steering Committee. She is a Founding Member of the Salvation Army Agape, served the Killarney Glengarry Community Association for two terms, and currently serves on the City of Calgary Public Art Board.
Joey is a born Calgarian, is a community builder who is committed to Calgary's Vision: Calgary: a great place to make a living; a great place to make a life. She writes a future oriented column for the Killarney Newsletter called ...imagine... which encourages and educates residents to make decisions that lead Calgary to a sustainable and resilient future.
Jeff Griffiths, FCMC, FRSA, CTDP - Past Chair, Director

Jeff Griffiths is a seasoned management consultant focused on individual and collective competency. He is the co-founder of Griffiths Sheppard Consulting Group Inc. in Calgary, the Registrar for the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Alberta, and Chair of the National Certification Committee for the Canadian Association of Management Consultants. His career has covered the gamut from military service, to working in the manufacturing and aerospace, to consulting to clients in the public, private and non-profit sector in industries including construction, oil and gas, environmental, manufacturing, aerospace, agri-food, forest products, transportation and social services.
Jeff holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration from the Collège Millitaire Royal de St-Jean. In addition, he has been a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) since 2001, and was named a Fellow of the Institute (FCMC) of Certified Management Consultants of Alberta in 2014 in recognition of his long service to the profession. He also holds the Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation from the Institute for Performance and Learning, and is a Fellow of the UK-based Royal Society of the encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA).
In addition to his professional work and involvement with SRL, Jeff provides pro-bono consulting services to non-profit groups assisting youth through his association with Alberta’s Promise, and also supports the work of groups focused on helping new Canadians integrate into the workforce. Jeff has been involved with SRL since 2013, and served as Chair of the SRL Board from 2015 - 2017.
Lisa Maria Fox is the Founder of Sustainability Resources and has spent over 10 years building a consortium of sustainability professionals and educational resources for advancing innovation and sustainable solutions for municipalities and their industry partners. She is recognized for her expertise in designing programs, curating conferences and leading the development of policy frameworks for water, land use, and resource management.
Throughout these past 10 years Lisa has contributed to some very large provincial projects: The Alberta One Simple Act project in partnership with the Natural Step; the development of the South East Alberta Watershed Alliance, Alberta’s 9th Watershed Planning and Advisory Council; the Watershed Management Framework for the Alberta Water Council and Government of Alberta; and the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan under the Land Use Framework.
Lisa’s high impact work has included revitalization planning for climate impacted communities, integrated sustainability plans for rural municipalities, water and wastewater sustainability strategies for regional governments, and the contribution to global best practices in responsible management education and ecological reclamation. She has also worked on several feasibility studies funded through NRCAN, CMHC and FCM Green Municipality Fund (GMF) for wastewater reclamation and ecological wastewater treatment technologies, which have ground breaking implications for urban water management and rural economies in water stressed regions.
In her work with SRL, she has developed and delivered over 30 workshops, 6 provincial conferences, and 12 volunteer-led programs. Recently, under her leadership, Sustainability Resources founded the Alberta Chapter of the International Society for Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) to continue the commitment to building capacity of professionals to excel and mobilize best practices in sustainability across all sectors.
Lisa is a dedicated Program Advisor for Sustainability Resources and serves as a Board Secretary on the Board of Directors.
