Economic Developers of Alberta (EDA) is the leading organization for economic developers in the province of Alberta committed to advancing the economic development profession.
EDA is a catalyst in supporting an effective, innovative and credentialed system of economic development practitioners who in turn inspire business and community vitality and growth in Alberta’s economy.
As a non-profit organization, EDA provides resources, professional development training and certification, and networking opportunities for a membership base of nearly 300. EDA’s varied membership includes: elected officials; municipalities; towns; regions; tourism groups; financial institutions; Crown Corporations; businesses; chamber of commerce representatives; Regional Economic Development Authorities; Community Futures Development Corporations; federal, provincial, regional and municipal government agencies; students; NGO’s; and other groups and individuals that are either involved or interested in business development, tourism, investment attraction, community and/or economic development.
EDA has a vast and varied network. We connect our members locally, nationally and internationally. We have strong partnerships with our sister organizations in other provinces and territories, as well as formal alliances with the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in the United States. These relationships enable us offer a range of events, training courses and seminars throughout the year. Our annual conference enables almost 400 stakeholders to network with other economic development professionals, learn about new trends and advances in the field; hear best practices, and enhance their professional development. This year we had approximately 100 elected officials in attendance at the conference!
