DIG (Do It Green) is a social enterprise spun out of the Calgary Folk Music Festival’s award winning Eco-Initiatives program.
DIG is committed to empowering people to take fun and practical steps towards contributing to the health of our community. Many of us have been to events that left behind a flood of waste that went straight to the landfill, however public events can be amazing opportunities to engage people and nurture a culture of environmental awareness.
DIG’s signature program involves the use of waste stations with friendly attendants that coach people during the event on how to separate their waste and limit contamination of recyclables and compostables. The goal is to produce as little landfill waste as possible. At the end of the event, DIG will produce a simple report indicating how much waste was created during your event and how much of it was diverted away from the landfill.
This service compliments the overall experience and engages your audience in a way that aligns with their values.
DIG’s recent clients include Calgary Stampede, Calgary Folk Music Festival, Alberta Flood Aid, McMahon Stadium, YYC Food Trucks, Chevron, TEDxYYC, Jack Singer Concert Hall, Social Enterprise World Forum, Telus Convention Centre, East Village, Borealis, and Place2Give.
DIG is pleased to partner with Spark to offset all carbon emissions from our company vehicles through the purchase of carbon credits from local Calgary solar micro-generators. We are proud to be one of the first sustainability companies to put the environment first by supporting community projects that bring renewable energy to our community.
